Vincent Price "Tales Of Witches, Ghosts, And Goblins" (Caedmon, TC1393, 1972)
I've saved my favorite Caedmon/ Price LP for last. I honestly couldn't tell you how many times I checked this out from the Lawrence, KS public library as a kid (for the record, I checked out a great many of the Halloween albums on this blog from that library in the 1970's, and can place a good deal of my infatuation with this medium of spooky entertainment squarely upon the shoulders of whoever did the buying for the children's "holiday" vinyl section there). Side one of this album in particular was fascinating to me, as it contained recipes and incantations instructing the listener on how both "To Become A Werewolf" and how "To Raise The Dead"; rather highly desirable abilities to my nascent brain. "The Smoker" also caught my fancy, and I've never forgotten the advice about touching every tree in a forest so as to throw hunting dogs off one's scent -- you know, should the need ever arise. Give this fine album a download and perhaps you'll pick up a tip or two here as well.

This week of nonstop Vincent Price records has been like a dream come true. Thanks so much for all the work you've done here. . . Halloween around my house this year is going to be just amazing. My kids and I have been playing these one by one at night (no nightmares yet *fingers crossed*) and we all can't thank you enough!

I'll second the last comment, thanks so much for all this, can't tell you how cool it has been to get all this stuff, to quote Mr. Walken "You are the man"

Thanks again Jason. I had looked for these off and on at ebay, and when they came up they were way out of my price range. I highly recommend this set Jason mentioned:
Poe Collection - Price, Rathbone narrating.
I have it, and it's great. Take a look ofr it on ebay also. That's where I got mine brand new for $10.00.

Thank you sooo much!!!!!!

Whatever happened to Caedmon? They put out some real gems in the mid to late 1900's. A lot of the really great Halloween Lps I've found on ebay were from them. It sucks all you can find new now days is the $1.49 CD crap that retail stores have every Halloween. I guess with Video/PC Games there just isn't any youth market for this great stuff like we had back when.

Thanks for the sort-of-a plethora of Vincent Price...I had forgotten this stuff completely. Vincent's voice is so perfect for these things. You are making this Halloween season great at my house already!

What a treasure trove! ('Priceless', you might say, though you'd probably regret it.)
I'm still trying to track down "Dracula's Deuce" by The Ghouls. Amazon says it's unavailable and it doesn't seem to be on any of the other blogs...

I have Dracula's Deuce. I can share it over at my blog if Jason isn't going to shar eit here soon.

Oh yeah, that's more than fine by me Mr Dave. I've got the next coupe of weeks fairly mapped out so you're certainly not stepping on any of my plans. Thanks!

Cool. I just can't do the in depth descriptions like you do. I dunno how you find out all of that stuff, but it is all great info to have.
Ok. I have it posted in a zip file.

Thanks for all the great albums you have been putting up!
I too have been posting Vicent Price stuff on my blog.

I put up A Graveyard of Ghost Tales and A Hornbook For Witches before I noticed your blog had them.
I got Tales Of Witches, Ghosts, And Goblins and A Coven Of Witches' Tales from here so I was just going to link to your site and not put them on mine but then I went and edited the audio to clean up some of the record pops and static so i put them up after all. I hope you don't mind? I gave you credit for them and included a link here. I don't want anyone to feel I'm stepping on their toes.
Other Price stuff in my uploads include some tracks from one of his cooking albums, some radio plays starring Price from the old Escape and Suspense radio shows, and the intro he recorded for Disney's Haunted Mansion at Disneyland Paris that they never used for some reason even though its really good.
In case people don't want to search through my entire blog, you can find my Price stuff directly here:

Cool! Will check out your "static edits" today; thanks. Yeah I agree that the "Phantom Manor" voiceover track he did was totally cool, I'm also not sure why it wasn't used but I bet someone here could tell you. Heh, I'd love to get all of those cooking albums (even the parody one isn't bad) in good form.

Oh, you know what? I should mention that I'm thankful for the credit given to my original rips; that's pretty cool.
Though about 90% of the LP rips (and maybe 70% of the cover scans, sometimes I'm lazy there!) on Scar Stuff come from my own albums, I know it'll really only be a small matter of time before the sourcing info is lost on the internet (or these rips are simply supplanted by others). In the long run (hell even the "medium run") I have zero problem with that; not only is it the way of things, but also my main goal here isn't some self aggrandizement -- rather to both spotlight & get these lost recordings back into circulation as best I can. Heh, in the short run though, it's nice indeed to be given a couple of nods here & there (by you & everyone else who has been so kind as to drop some credit along with their posts) -- so hey, thanks again!

The "static edits" still have some record noise, it was impossible to filter out everything without degrading the actual record audio, but I did the best I could on already compressed audio. I guess what I'm trying to say is don't expect a miraculous difference in sound quality or you'll be dissapointed :)
I feel the same way about stuff I post, I'm just trying to share things with people who might otherwise never have seen or heard it and to make sure it doesn't completely fade out of existence and in the long run I think its a good thing if it ends up other places.
But I know the owners of some blogs that are extremely touchy about people using their stuff. I figure the least I can do if I have to use something someone else shared is to give a link to their site and hopefully get some more people to visit them. After all, its always nice to be thanked :)
And on that note, thanks for the link to that haunted mansion forum :)

For anyone who is a Vincent Price fan, or wants to collect 10 Vincent Price LPs from the actor's own personal collection--check out eBay starting the evening of 2/3/08. There will be a 10-day auction of 10 Vincent Price LPs sold as one lot --including this one. Look for the all of the other cool Vincent Price items being sold by me--3dogreiner.

In the 1970’s actor, art collector and connoisseur Vincent Price recorded a series of 11 cassettes called, “The Beverly Hills Cookbook,” later titled, “Push Button Cookery,” to capitalize on the growing popularity of portable audio players.
We digitized the tapes and are making them available here for your enjoyment. Listen to them all, and try out a few recipes in the same spirit as they are presented. We hope you savor them as much as we have.
